Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Birmingham Airport Park 1 vs 2/3

How much closer is 1 vs 2/3?

I've got a fair amount of gear drag early in the morn. Is a extra £15 for the week worth it for Park1?

@earl, Sorry not to much help but I always use carpark 5. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the terminal depending on where you park. However there is a frequent bus to take you to the terminal. It runs just about every 10 minutes.

The choice between 1 and 2 which I think used to be called short and medium stay depends to some extent on what airline you are with. If you are with AirFrance then 1 is a lot closer. If you are with Lufthansa then it is a very close call.

From the descriptions and looking on Google maps, not very. I've booked for park 1 as it was only a few quid when I booked, but I wasnt convinced that theres much difference.

@earl, I forgot to mention, but aren't 1,2 and 3 all the same price?

I'm flying Crystal i.e.Thompson (I'm assuming).

I never thought to look on google maps!

2/3 are the same price but 1 £15 more. Offsite is much cheaper but the flight takes off at 06:15 so the kids will be zombies already.

For £15 I'd go for car park 1, its a very short walk and undercover. Parks 2/3 are a fairly easy walk but if you've got ski stuff, park1 is literally over the road from the terminals

For TUI, car park 2 is your closest walk to the terminal. You come out of a little side door just down from the terminal, on the same side. Either go into the first revolving door & walk past the scheduled airline desks or walk past this door & enter through the main doors a little further up. The TUI desks are right in front of you then. You drive past 1 & 3 to get to 2.

Added edit: Car park 1 is the newest, hence I guess the price. Sign up with NCP, they often send out voucher codes. Just booked a week in March for £43 for car park 2/3 so treated ourselves to a night in the Ibis as we’re also doing a 6.15 flight yet again.

Note comment re the lifts but we’ve never experienced any issues with complete lift failure in any car park in over 20 years & many trips. Often only one is working but never had to lump it down the stairs. This goes for car park 1 as well.

Car Park 1 - nearer the terminal if it's raining plus the lifts work
Not always the case at 2/3 and you could be handling luggage down a narrow stairwell

@earl, car park 5.. use it all the time winter summer and business trips. Park near a bus stop or dump all the gear and passengers at a bus stop, go park up and bus will get you outside the terminal in a few minutes and your savings will get you breakfast in the terminal..no point paying extra for the closer car parks to the terminal you will only save a few minutes in time.

We've always gone 2/3 close enough to walk with ski's, cases and buggy but also covered so you don't come back to find your case iced up or in snow.

Park 1 it's the return that you need to think about.

Does anyone know if the spaces are all similar sizes for bigger cars across the car parks?
Often covered car parks have smaller spaces...

Standard parking spaces - plenty of room to manoeuvre but bog standard width though. Often have pillars between groups of spaces so easier for passenger to get out & direct driver as required. The biggest car I think we’ve parked was a Suzuki Grand Vitara.
