Snow Reports
FAQ
Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

This was great - equally as good as the dolomites feature in the
Faction
film!
What I have realised recently is how much the drone has changed the way these films are being made - gone are the days of the static angle from the Heli chasing the skier down the mountain but these great drone shots that follow the skier and also give you a great feeling of the landscape!
Sam is really the "personification" of a swiss-army knife when it comes to his abilities and talents in the mountain - which obviously lead to the theme and name of the short.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

What happens to those long ropes used for the rapel?
There only seemed to be one strand so I can't see how it could be recovered...but on the other hand I really don't like the idea of just leaving it there, it will never rot away

Many if not most of these filming events, you only get to see the featured athletes, they are not the only ones on the mountain. If they are the only ones there are plenty of devices/tricks to getting a single line back, some sold by the most major climbing gear makers.
