Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A new wax with 40% less friction

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
You need to check this out. I could test this wax this summer Down Under.

This university spin-off will launched this ski wax at a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign on 13th of November.

They have less friction thanks to this nano enhancement.

I have never seen another brand do this: as University spin-off, they put all test results on their website in full transparency.

So I hope you will all support this innovative start-up. Laughing
Launch date: November 13th

I assume the national teams are already signed up - after all if it has real advantages they'll want to be the first

Big fan of nanotechnology, can I use it in my car to save diesel on a trip to the Alps? Very Happy

@Skibie, ski-snow friction has little impact outside of WC racing. Not the biggest market is it?

Another ski forum, exactly same post and exactly same username freshly signed in just to post his/her super good experience with yet another kickstarter scam. We can soon expect another user claiming how great this product, she was so lucky to be elected as beta tester, is. Laughing

If you want to go even faster dont turn, it works, and is totally free. A better wax for WC and those few poling on the flat occasions.

Maybe it really is a fantastic, better wax.
Time will tell.

I think that I/We really have no issue at all with a researcher coming here and reporting, even promoting, their work/product.

But for Fek's sake just be upfront about it!

@rungsp, No issue with someone being transparent in promoting their idea/product.
But deliberately misleading? On another forum, someone has pointed out that the company behind this works with PTFE - clearly a fluorocarbon. The Kickstarter site is claiming to "replace toxic fluorocarbon". Perhaps there's a different material involved, but then again, perhaps not.

Wow.

It has the word "nano" in it.

Sounds, like, space age and stuff.

Who do I send all my money to?

Definitely gonna be investing big in this one.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

I notice you are a bit sceptical,

We are a University spin-off, specializing in the field of Tribology and Nano technology.

We have to make clear that fluorocarbons as such aren't a problem, it is the PFA (like PFOA and C8, next also the C6) that causes health and environmental issues.

And yes, we have studied and used PTFE, for some applications (inside bearings e.g.) they can be useful and they remain in an enclosed environment.

It would be pretty stupid to develop a nano alternative, simulating fluorocarbon hydrophobicity, that is also toxic.

Our skiwax is fully EPA compliant.

Well, we did right after we saw this post, then after a couple of ours, replying as we did now, our profile got banned.

I understand they don't like publicity on a forum, but if you try to answer questions and remarks as a company, this can't be an issue?

Oh don't worry, they did come along indeed.

The main problem with the ski technicians of the teams is that they will never tell others what they are using (or what mixes they combine).

So honestly, it is nice, but commercially not really the most interesting part.

More intesesting are tests with ski brands and companies like Wintersteiger.
