Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

As Northern Italy is a 'no go', now thinking of PDS for a 4 day break (18th to 22nd March)
I know the area reasonably well & can get cheap digs in SJD.
Logically stay as high as possible, park at Ardent & get over to Avoriaz that way.
Just wondered how conditions were holding up with the temperatures fluctuating as it is.
More potential snow (& rain) forcast for next week so any help greatly appreciated.
We will be 4 advanced intermediate piste skiers with a little off piste by a couple of the guys.

It will rain most everywhere in the Alps next week up to 3000m.
Avoriaz sits at 1800-2500m.
Resort, today, is ~95% open.
It has enough snow to withstand a couple days of heavy rain.
Be mindful that Avoriaz is only 50-100 miles from Italy and the Aosta virus hostspot.
C19 will not just stop at the border.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'm there the same dates, but staying in Avoriaz, looking at the forecast, should be fine, and they've had plenty of snow in the last week or two. Expecting spring like conditions, but not worried at all.

Just came back from a similar trip. We did a Sunday to Friday. Flew into Geneva but stayed on the Swiss side in Les Crosets. It's a great spot to access the PdS as can easily ski the whole Swiss side, but also just 1 chair away from dropping over into France. The snow and pistes were very good when we were there at anything over about 1400m. Beneath that, a bit hit and miss. We had 1 day of solid snow, 2 clear warm days and 1 day of heavy rain, even at village level (1600m).
Pistes were in general quiet.
I wouldn't be booking anything now though, with the latest developments of CV. I think, in two weeks time you'll find a lot more ski resort closures.
