Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@jancellor, not ideal timing considering most resorts are closing Laughing

If you could add 'avoid bubbles' that may be useful for the ones which remain open wink

@jancellor This thread is a few years old so not sure if it's still relevant. I just came back from a ski trip in the Dolomites and an app like this would have been super helpful. I did search for some kind of ski resort navigation app but didn't find anything useful. I only now just happened upon this thread! Is the app still available? I tried the iOS link and it doesn't seem to be available on the Canadian App Store.

Hi @pgostaovic, unfortunately I'm not updating the app anymore and both Apple and Google required changes which I haven't implemented, so it's not available in either store. Sorry, I should remove the store links from the homepage when I get a chance.

You can use the web demo version at https://ski-nav-app.com on your phone though still.

Ah that's a shame. Do you mind my asking what issues Apple and Google had? Just curious... I'm also a software developer and am working on an app (music related) -- wondering what kinds of issues to expect. I always thought Google was fairly permissive. Apple not so much.

I can't fully remember, but with Google pretty sure it was related to permissions, probably background location sharing that needed to be declared in a different way. I made another Android app that uses GPS in the standard way as of ~2023 that will also have to change the next time I release it. I imagine you will have to create a "foreground service" that is declared to be of type "mediaPlayback" (or something) and that displays a persistent notification and then request permissions from the user dynamically before starting the service.
