Littlest grom is wanting some ski lessons before we go to Les Arcs in January, he will turn 4 just before we go away. He did some assisted sliding last year in Tignes, but mostly just sledging and having a good old play in the snow. Chill Factore do a ski school aimed at 3-4 year olds called Ski Penguins. I just wondered if anyone has any experience of this with their kids and could recommend it (or not)? We are thinking of getting him a private lesson on holiday too, if he is keen, and thought this might be a good (and relatively inexpensive) warm up.

Hi, we put our then 3 year old in for these sessions but to be honest, we wish we hadn’t. The set up isn’t ideal for the little ones in my opinion as our son wasn’t keen on being left in snow, with skis on and with us no where in sight. They won’t (or at least didn’t then) allow parents to stay anywhere near so we had to watch from the balcony above. So we ended up not completing the course. We then put him in Austrian ski school where he came on amazingly well (Austrian ski schools are amazing!), I don’t think a couple of chill factor sessions would have changed that, and now at age 6 he can easily ski a red slope no problems (and probably faster than me!) We do take him to chill factor every 3 months to keep a practice in. I think it will really depend on what your child is like being left alone....

We put our two into lessons at Chill Factore. It was OK is probably the best I can say but not really value for money at all. Separately we took them for private lessons at a dry ski slope. It was cheaper to have private lessons there than group lessons at CF and they came on way more. I hate dry skiing but, to be fair, if they can ski on dry by the time they get to snow on the holiday it seems like child's play (sorry) as its so much easier.
After a week of lessons thereafter in Passo Tonale they (who were 4 and 5 when we first started) come skiing with us now. 4 year old is now 6 and desperate to go on a black run.
In summary, CF is OK but I'd save lessons there until they have some idea at least. Much as I hate dry skiing, it got our two going to a decent standard very quickly.

Most dry slopes don't start lessons until 5 years old, otherwise I'd say to go to one.
Maybe just wait until Les Arc and pop him in a group there?

Thanks so much for the feedback. In that case, I think we might save the money and just get him a lesson or two in Les Arcs.

had some lessons at Tamworth and were allowed to stay by the barrier on the kinder slope and also the main slope (xmas stuff now on kinder) as we had tears from them
