Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi Folks , heading to the ski show at last this year, wanted to go for years but always been to busy.
Anyone have experience of actually buying gear there , or is it more to check out new products etc ?
I'm after new touring skis and bindings and maybe boots if I go for pin bindings. I see you can book a boot fitting slot so obviously boots are available.
Are certain days better than others, Thursday looking best for us (first day) although i guess better discounts on the last day maybe, or sold out ? !Any advice appreciated
Thanks Dave

I've been to one day last year and it was not that much of shopping, a lot of holiday operators and countries marketing their resorts, there was decathlon, snow and rock, one or two stores selling skis/boots and clothing but not that much variety to be fair.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Agree with Gustavobs. There is the odd deal to be had on last years kit from a few Indys but wouldn't expect much discount from the likes of the snow and rock etc. They will just put boots etc back into stock if they don't sell it during the show.

@scarbski, just a promo-show. Better value elsewhere.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Am not sure about touring skis/bindings but I think Finches are usually there, with skis and boots. I also recall decent deals on backpacks one year. There also some smaller clothing brands about. But really not a great deal of kit. Best thing to di is check out the list of exhibitors on the shows website and give them a call to see what they might be bringing.

Useless for touring gear. Better calling spyderjon and get him to put together a package for you - you'll get more discount and better advice.

In related new Finches Emporium in forest Hill have their season-starter open day on Nov. 3rd. Free nibbles and drink - and 10% of clothing/5% off kit.

Looks like we will treat the show as a day out with a bit of fact finding and then call and see Jon at the Piste Office.
