JH booked for Feb 2020
We will have a car so curious as to what is the best way to access the hill from town.
How frequent/expensive/busy are the buses?
How expensive/busy are the car parks in JH?
I've heard mention of some halfway house park and ride facilities - are these a viable option?

Parking charges were introduced last year to discourage traffic, 20 dollars or 10 dollars a little further away with free shuttle bus.
I used the bus from our hotel. The driver gave you a wildlife commentary and had us singing. The bus was convenient. Make sure you have a day at Grand Targhee

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Lechbob, No they weren't - charges have been in place for years. they have just increased and altered them.
If its still the same, the ranch lot, which has a free shuttle - was free to cars with 3 or more folks. Top tip pick up someone from a bus stop in town, if theres only 2 of you
Theres a free park and ride, at the entrance to Moose Wilson Road - the 390.
Theres free buses running from town, pickups often outside hotels etc - as Jackson is trying to limit car use to the resort.
At least a day at Grand Targhee is a must, stop in Driggs at O'Roukes for breakfast, check out the sale gear in the sports shop down from O'Roukes.

No. But "personal experience" are rarely up-to-date with the cost of the parking, which changes year to year. And as you can see from the response, "personal experience" maybe personal, but can also be ... WRONG!

Out of Teton Village and a good location in town I’m taking town every time.
The Op will love Jackson regardless.

We will always have 3 in the car. Does that make the Ranch lot the best option, or easier to stick to a bus from town and leave the wheels behind?

Can you recall its name? I'll need to buy some gear (sic) whilst in Jackson.

I think he is referring to Peaked Sports next door to O'Rourkes in Driggs, only useful if you go over the pass to Idaho.

You know it makes sense.

With 3 people, Ranch lot is the clear winner.
But if one person wants to quit early, the bus allows some freedom apart from the group. It's only a few dollars for the bus.
Last winter, the lot fills by 10 on weekends. Also on powder day weekends, the traffic stretches all the way from Teton village back to the town of Jackson! Plan accordingly.
