Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Arc 1950 ski hire

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

I've been doing a bit of research, and then thought, why not ask the community as the advice is so good here.

We'll be in Arc 1950 in January 2020. I am looking at the rental places there and from what I can see there are three

Skiset, Precision Ski and Intersport.

We have our own boots, so it's just ski's we are looking for (boots and skis for my son). Skiset is the most expensive but does seem to have a good range. Intersport is next (I've used them before in Peisey and they were fine) and Precision is quite a lot cheaper than the others (basically half the price of Skiset).

Any recommendations. We are all beginner/intermediate skiers so not looking for high end skis and it will mostly be on piste skiing.

Just ran across this: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.skiset.co.uk

Guess I won't be going with Skiset

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Skiset* is inherently evil so you can generally rule them out anyway. (I've been trying to help people steer clear of them for years - glad the internet is finally catching up)
If you know you liked the Intersport service, easy! Go for that.

*While many of the shops are independently owned, perfectly decent and respectable, the company that runs the central online booking system is not (in my view) to be trusted.

Have a look at the links on this page: https://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=104118#2387091

I'm fairly sure there's more options. These links should also give you the best deals.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for the quick replies

I have compiled this to try and separate the actual rental shops from the central online booking systems

So, back from a fantastic week of skiing.

Ski Service/Intersport was very adequate. Good selection of skis (Our son was the only one who needed boots, and they were fairly new and in good condition).

Precision Ski (main shop in the middle of town) was excellent. Very new equipment, both boots and skis. Good advice. Big shop and lots of space for trying on boots etc.

Skishop 1950 is also a great shop with very new equipment, although check out the concerns about the SkiSet booking platform above
