Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@moseyp, it's not included if you book a 'light' fare without baggage.

As @drporat says, you have to book your skis on the flight by calling them. Can be a bit of a pain: ring to check ski carriage availability, then book, then ring back to confirm ski carriage. But better than having to pay for it

You have to read the fine print carefully. Its NOT free on LH from US to EU and back. I checked again recently and for me it would be $600 (from the West Coast)! Nearly as much as the fare. Two years ago I was told no charge by LH and flew them, and indeed was not charged on the outbound leg. Checking my ski bag at MUC for the return leg, the gal charged me 250 EU and when I started to explain it should be free she gave me The Look and said "do you want the skis on the airplane or don't you?". So for me its BA, at least until they follow suit. My skis ride for free and sometimes I even make my connection in LHR!
