Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Soldeu / El Tartar - Early Jan

What are the Snowheads collective views on Soldeu/El Tartar in early Jan? Is it fairly snowsure? For context, we're a group of intermediate piste skiers, who occasionally play off the side of the piste if the snow looks good.

In my experience piste skiing is normally good. They have extensive snow making and use it to very good effect. So as it should be cold enough there will be a good amount of skiing. Off piste is harder to guess. I went at Christmas a few years ago and it was strictly on piste only with very little real snow around. I still had fun but most of the black's were closed. I'm going the second week of January so fingers crossed we have great snow.

They have amazing snow making so on piste will be fine, off piste in the Pyrenees usually gets going in Feb/march, but who knows!

@sugarmoma666, to echo the comments above, the snowmaking in Grandvalira is fantastic so even if the snow gods don't provide, the snow cannons will! That might restrict you to on-piste though.

Apparently they always make snow for the 1 Dec holiday weekend, so by early January the pistes should be fine. Off piste just depends on the year.
