Slightly off the wall question, but back in 2002 a friend was injured skiing in Cervinia and ended up being fitted with a replacement hip. He's now hoping the hospital might have records of the joint they fitted, but can't recall which hospital he was taken to. We know it was some distance (an hour?) from the resort.
Does anybody know the most likely hospital he might have ended up in? Or are there loads of possibilities? And of course things might have changed in last 20 years!

According to Google Maps Aosta is about an hour from Cervinia

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Maybe Aoste? Nothing else capable in that direction, afaik, but Italian hospitals are, ... odd. Didn’t he keep any records, at all?

Can't an xray determine the type? Or is this some class action compo thing?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Aosta rings a bell, thank you guys.
And no, not the kind of chap to be looking for compo, far from it.
Don’t know exactly what the need is, but it’s something they can’t easily determine from the X-ray.
Didn’t keep any records at the time, at that point I think he was just glad to be walking again.

Without doubt it will be Aoste , my friend was airlifted there from Cervina when he smashed foot and ankle .
I won’t comment about the hospital .

Aosta general hospital. My hospital is trying to get info from them for a screw they stuck in my leg in 2018 and no luck so far. It took me months to get the xrays and medical report back too
Ortho is ortopedia@ausl.vda .it but it’s probably the office he’ll want and one department won’t forward requests onto another. Also he’ll need to speak and write Italian so if he has an Italian friend who can call them he’ll get what he needs far quicker

Brilliant thank you. My friend's doctors who have a similar question about the hardware used on him. I don't think they want to open him up and find they've got the wrong sized spanner!
I'll pass on your tips.

Doesn't his insurance have details of who they paid to operate on him or where they paid for him to be taken?

Have you ever done business in Italy...
Getting a receipt for a taxiride is a schlep.
Good luck in getting 17-yearold records.

i did Aosta two years ago, it was the nearest to Champoluc...i was told it was the best place to be in the whole region as they specialised in skiing injury..(although used outdated procedures) they gave me all the paperwork and xrays as i left saying '' that is all your details'' ..even getting a discharge letter and flying clearence was near impossible !!! once home we asked for further info...''all records passed on'' was the reply.
(ps. the staff were great,..... after that it was dire )

@yorkshirelad, very similar to my experience. went to a renowned sports surgeon afterwards who wasn't too impressed with the job they'd done and can't get info from them now to do further work
