Need to get the OH a few lessons because she has not skied for a number of years, while I potter on the slope so which is the better Snowdome, Milton Keynes or Hemel Hempstead. We are equidistant from both so distance is not an issue?

Hemel for me - equipment in better nick, nicer cafe and snow has been in batter shape than MK last few times I've been
Put it like this - MK is 20-mins for us, Hemel 90. I'd choose Hemel

Not a lot in it, but I prefer Hemel for its ease of access. MK is a shopping centre with indoor skydiving, bowling, a cinema, casino and snow dome attached. Hemel is a snow dome with a small Snow&Rock attached, so everyone is there to play in the snow, rather than to get the Christmas shopping in or hang out with 40 of their mates on benches in the shopping centre.

Hemel definitely feels better looked after, but MK has a longer slope I believe.

Currently, I visit Hemel. But initially my preferred was MK because it feels wider and longer but the snow there seemed to have got really bad. Hemel's snow is pretty good, a very nice alpine restaurant but feels small and crowded.

+1 for Hemel, though I have not been to MK for a few years, from memory it is not a patch on Hemel.
when we visit we normally stay with the outlaws, who also live equal distance from both, but in my opinion Hemel has a nicer café/viewing area, booking in and changing area and has free parking (I may be wrong but I think you have to pay at MK)
though I am biased, as my girls had their initial lessons there, and I get free passes every year when I attend the ski show at Battersea

Hemel is better IMO. I’ve used both many times. MK’s slope is slightly longer, but snow is never as good. You do have pay to park at the Xscape in MK, whereas Hemel is free parking. Hemel’s cafe/restaurant is better too. I’ve had a lesson at Hemel and it was very good. Hemel for me.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

You mean the restaurant is small & crowded (as opposed to the slope)?

You know it makes sense.

I learnt to ski on a day course at MK (and you do have to pay for parking) - everyone and I mean everyone I've spoken to since has said you should have gone to Hemel...

restaurant is fine. Slope gets quite busy frequently. I once visited during high Summer, on a Monday morning, thinking would be quiet and nice. Busy again
If you spend whole day, don’t lunch at normal hour since it’s when it gets really calm about noon.
I’ve never been near or during winter but imagine won’t get any better.
Anyway still pretty decent snow and worth occasional the visit.

I just called MK to book a couple of Black Friday slope passes for this Sunday with the kiddies and mis-dialled.... Instead of 0333 0030 520 for Sno zone, I dialled 0333 0300 520 and got through to The Fantasy Cabin - where I could explore my fantasies with sexy girls! I'm now torn between which one to book?

@Klamm Franzer, that's the problem with dialling from your Frequent Contacts list - you can easily fat finger it and pick the one below your intended target

Hemel rocks, MK is dump, a friend went to MK for a group lesson last weekend and there weren't enough instructors, the staff hadn't even noticed until I pointed out they had 8 people waiting

I suggest you try both.
I went to Milton Keynes last Thursday as the Hemmel Fridge was closed for filming.
I liked the changing room at MK, the floor was not slopping wet as in Hemmel.
I prefer the cafe/bar at Hemmel, the ambience seems better.
The scenery is better at Hemmel, the walls are blank at MK.
Yes, you have to use the pay and display machines at MK but you are lucky if you can find a parking space at Hemmel.... I went there yesterday, it was not very busy, but the car park was 80% full. I think there are people abusing the facility.
The slope is certainly wider and longer at MK ... I nearly had to get a piste map.
Both resorts seem to be putting a lot of effort into setting up "park stunt stuff". I personalty find it a bit of a pain as it takes up so much room on the slopes the routes get worn and icy.
But this could just a Thursday thing, and we are producing a lot of talent on these slopes.
Anyway its good to have both ... I used to love the dendex slopes of Gosling Stadium in Welyn or Harlow or even Beckton alps. Not forgetting Basingbourn.

Thursday evening is a Freestyle session at Hemel, so they often have some freestyle features in place during the day which take up some of the slope. Other days of the week are usually free of such features. It's always worth checking the calendar on the Hemel website to see if they are planning any particular events such as freestyle evenings.

They're both a similar distance for me, but I prefer Hemel personally. Parking is easier in Hemel and free.
You have more choices of fast-food chains at MK, if you're going to eat.
Otherwise they seem much the same to me.
