I am considering a trip to Klosters this year over Xmas. We are a family of 5 people, all Advanced skiers. I Snowboard.
I had a few questions from people familiar with the resort:
1- That time of year, is this a good choice in terms of snow likelihood? Between location, altitude it seems like an OK Bet? How is their snowmaking?
2- I read that they have A LOT of T-Bars. I cant do those suckers on my Snowboard. Anyone have advice on how big a deal that would be for me making my way around?
3- Together with Davos, would this be a good choice for 5 days of skiing? Enough to keep it interesting?
4- Its our first Europe trip and my wife really wants a nice European experience - skiing to little towns, etc. Is that part of the experience at Klosters?

Unless you are really unlucky the snow should be ok. If you’re lucky it could offer fab long runs both on and off piste. T bars are easily avoided. Plenty of skiing for 5 days. Town is cosy, quiet and expensive. Worth starting early to avoid the morning rush on the cable car. I think the first lift is at 08.15 and a good idea to be there by 08.30. Overall a good choice for an upmarket European experience and great off piste. There is one uk travel Klosters specialist, PT ski - worth a chat with them. HTH

@lirong, Ah I actually just recommended it in your other thread as a possibility.
It's a great place to ski
It can be really good fun skiing to some of the lower villages and getting the train back but not sure whether or not these will be open at Xmas.
There are some T Bars but far fewre than there used to be. The main Parsenn and Jakobshorn areas are skiable without using the drags , The Madrisa is partially skiable without drags . The Rinerhorn unfortunately is not as it is a fun area as well.

T-bars are really very easy. I'd just find an easy one and practice on that for a few minutes and then you can forget that whole thing. Seriously, if you can ride a snowboard at all you can ride a T-bar, there's nothing at all to it.

1. Snow should be good. Klosters is a snow trap. If there's snow in Davos town there will be snow in Klosters village and possibly deeper too despite it being a bit lower. Both resorts link up to Parsenn which is high and snow-sure.
2. It's improved over the past years. T-bars are not really an issue at all on Parsenn. Not sure about Madrisa and the other hills as we didn't go up there.
3. Yes, definitely. More than enough.
4. Yes, some great long runs down to Klosters, Davos and Kublis (which is actually low at 800m- snow permitting). All bases linked by frequent trains.
For a first time chocolate box Euro experience with an above average chance of good snow at Christmas, Klosters is a good choice. It's not cheap but it's not worse than anywhere else in Switzerland.
