Been a while since I've done a charter flight, the tickets say minimum 2 hrs check in, is this really necessary ? Does the desk close with 2 hours to go, surely not? For a 06:25 flight this would be a real pain in the ... !

masmith, which airport? We had an Airtours flight (now My Travel) from Manchester a couple of years ago at 6am. We therefore had to check in at 4am, but the doors were locked until at least 4.15 . The desk won't close at 4.25 though. A word of warning though, my sister stood in the checkin queue for so long at Manchester recently, despite asking staff if they were OK for the flight, that they were last onbaord and nearly missed their plane.

Helen Beaumont, It's Manchester as well, First Choice Airways, now trying to figure out which terminal we need - it doesn't say on the tickets !

masmith, I think it was First Choice flight they nearly missed. Apparently they have desks open for all FCflights, not individual destinations, so they were queueing with people on later flights. They then had a horrendous queue at security, and nearly missed the plane.

You'll need to Register first of course.

masmith First Choice will be terminal 2 at Manchester. For any flight, I always make sure I am there at least 2 hours beforehand as all these airline companies are real b******* and will hit you with all sorts of rules and regulations - I don't give them any opportunity.

Oh good luck on the way back. We did early flights in and out to grenoble. breezed through Gatwick oon way with a nice mans shepherding us to empty check in desk. On way back -carnage and it was worse for the Manchester flight. You will see why your TO wakes you up at 0320 or similar to get back. However had such a fab trip it couldn't take the gloss off

If you get there early then you get rid of your bags asap and can relax, otherwise you get stuck in huge ques worrying if you are going to to miss the flight or not. It's just easier.

masmith, The last time I went from Manchester on a first choice plane, they were running a '1 queue for all' system so if you weren't careful, you ended up stuck behind people who's flight wasn't due to leave for another 4 hours.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I could not agree more - I wish you could tell my partner that. If it was left up to him, he would leave everything to the last minute and that includes check in. I like to check in at least 2 - 2½ hours before, then you can get rid of your luggage, have a coffee, etc, browse round the shops and, before you know, you are ready to board. Better than being stuck in a traffic jam with about half an hour to spare or stuck at the back of "one check in queue does all"

You know it makes sense.

jb1970, problem is that the shops aren't open at that time, if memory serves me right. This is now a decision for the wife !
