I've been to Profeet. I had booked an hour's consultation and didn't realistically think I would get my problem sorted today. However, I believe I was wrong. We spent a while discussing my feet, balance, stance etc. I then had conformable insoles made and my boots were punched out to widths they haven't been before. The result? Bliss I tried them on and was surprised initially at how easily they slipped on. The insoles made a huge hell of a difference. The boots feel so much more responsive now - tipping them over so much more effortless (can't wait to try them on skis). As to my '6th toes', the punching out left a lot more room for them and I felt no pain. Just hope they don't regress back in, which is apparantly possible with my boots.
Obviously the real test is my next ski trip on 15th April, but it's looking good so far. I was about ready to get new boots but I think there's hope for my Salomons yet.
I was there for 2 hours altogether and the total cost was £99. A bargain I think.
Thank you Simon at Profeet.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

skiologist, what's 'bodyfactor'? Sounds like a women's skin care range.
Profeet are a sports footwear specialist with 2 branches on the New Kings Road in London (nearest tube Putney Brudge on District Line) - one branch a ski boot lab, the other deals with other shoe fittings.
I found them to be honest and thorough - I did not get the impression they were after a quick sale. I told them I was happy to buy new boots is that was necessary but they told me my current boots were a good fit generally and would be fine once the painful spots were sorted out. And as for footbeds, I cannot believe I've been skiing without them. I've heard people rave about them in the past and now I know why.
Of course the true test will be in a few weeks time....

conor, Start to get close to their 2hour fixed appointment period without getting all your problems sorted and their service quality can drop somewhat.
Having said that most people should be sorted well within the 2 hours and their fitting is still probably the best in the south.
Off there tomorrow for a bit of pain relief.

A bit late but...
I've a pair of old Rossi Race 1 Pros from the dark ages... snug as slippers and perfect except for completely worn out bases and the odd broken buckle (but they are screw on so easy to replace at 75p a go from Rossi). After reading here (and other sites) I tried Profeet as I have a spangly new job and thought I deserved a new set of boots.
Profeet are terrible :x - the biggest waste of money ever! And incredibly pushy/unhelpful service if you merely hint at taking up their offer of comfort guarantee and want to return the boots.
Generally I try and remain on the correct side of modest about my skiing ability and was willing to let them know that I probably better than average (skied for Scotland as a kid) and as they were the 'experts' I let them guide me 100% on boot choice. (Nothing worse than a customer that thinks he knows more about your product than you do!).
550 pounds later and I have a pair of boots that apart from being incredibly uncomfortable simply aren't the right type. The shell (300) shape I thought was ambitious - they assured me it was to allow max customisation. The conformable inners (150) took most of the issues away but left the standard tight spots round the small toes, the 99 pounds spent on their pressure sensor pads - which quite frankly is just a rheostat lattice plugged into a serial cable on the PC (I remember a GCSE project doing the same) - was another unused and unnecessary Chelsea extravagance...
So 1 week in a Swiss resort before Christmas I'd hired boots as these were so uncomfortable - felt a bit stupid with a perfectly good set of boots at home! Took them back and after them asking whether I really was as good a skier as I had marked on their form, they altered/fiddled and stretched etc... still awful after weeks 2 and 3 (learnt to take my old boots with me this time tho) and they now won't even think about taking them back!
So much for comfort guarantee.
So if you feel you need to spend over the odds for some Chelsea bag to put your boots in and don't care about continual product support, customer service or real medical qualifications then go to Profeet. For the rest of you, please consider this my gripe against the blighters - neither I nor any of my skiing mates will darken their door again and I advise anyone that thinks they might be doing just that it to seriously reconsider.

sneakybear, So are you saying that you're not happy ?

sneakybear, never good to hear about anyone having a bad experience - I must admit that my own experience was very positive. They even "tuned" by foam liners a year after the job was done on the grounds that their 6 month guarantee is a little unreasonable given that they're closed over the winter.
I would be tempted to write to Hamish (the founder).

sneakybear, contact Hamish directly and tell him your problems, the problem IMO with the company is that it has expanded just a little too quickly and due to this the service isn't always what it should be.
Hamish is a fair guy and i am sure he will resolve the problems for you
