DB, I don't feel as though I'm living to work anymore but working less to live. That's it - it is a lifestyle choice, you don't always get to ski as much as peeps working in the UK think (I hardly ski at all - too busy working, and no, working isn't skiing!) The thing is you do have to consider the trade off, is it worth it to you? What will you miss out on? Are the extras enough to make up for it? If yes - then DO IT.  If not, then don't be jealous of peeps who have.
BTW I don't strictly count, having a career that's on snow!!
