Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Please excuse the spelling.

Skiing seems to be excellent everywhere at the moment reading the reports here. But..

However if you are looking for a break in the very near future for 4/5 days then have a look at the Southern Alps. I can personallly testify that Valberg, Auron and Isola have great snow ( with maybe a little more this week), flights to Nice are VERY cheap at the moment (try BA or bmi to avoid ski charges) . Blue skies and good snow .. I would avoid Isola as it is expensive and (imho) a dump but all resorts are very quiet ..

Just a thought .. snowHead

petel, ..and I've never been to Puy , but the low temperatures and amazing snow are an absolute delight. -5 when I left Isola yesterday and 14 when I got back to the coast. Bordering on the surrreal . I'm going to try and 'ski-and-swim' tomorrow Smile

Helen Beaumont, I confess , we wanted to go to SC. If Serre Chevalier is better than that then it must be amazing. So different from last year. Before I 'found' skiing I would have been fly-fishing this last weekend - the Tinée, Vesubie etc..... NO WAY at the moment, the temp is just too cold .. although the rivers do look tempting ..

eEvans, a bit windy last week, but I've never seen the mountain so white. very different from last year, but i was only there for 4 or 5 days then, and we had 40cm of new snow the day before we arrived, so I got the best week of the season. We (and the locals) were surprised how busy it was last week though. Lots of French which is unusual in March.

Helen Beaumont, I suspect easiski will know better than I , but last week was always expected to be a big French ski week. Their Olympic success can only have swollen the numbers Toofy Grin

I'm not sure that I accept our obsession with the 'French half-term'. Folks I know have plenty of vacation and are quite prepqred to tqke their kids out of school ;;; same is true in the Summer with traditional patterns changing .

Possibly the theme for another thread ;; 'How the French avoid British half-term prices' ?? ( Ducks)

eEvans, Very Happy , actually I had noticed a fair no. of French kids on school trips too. There were plenty of families too.

A lot more french folks are starting to take holiday outside of the normal times this year and they are also now requesting part weeks or lond weekends rather than just the Saturday to Saturday rental thing. We have had loads of requests for long weekends, Monday to Thursday, all sorts. It definately a big change on the last few years.
