Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Recommendations on ski tour operators?

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi,

it's pretty much time to start looking for next winter destination. Could someone add recommendations, where else to look for accomodation except ski resort websites and other usual suspects, like sunweb, belvilla, skifrance, interchalet, allchalets? Housing only (package with ski pass included ok), self travelling, self catering. FR/IT/AT.

We have booked our half term trip with Pinewood Chalets (https://www.pinewoodchalets.com) and our Easter trip with Chalet Alpina (https://www.hotelchaletalpina.com/rooms-and-apartments)

@kosmoz, Why not book direct rather than use a T/O? If you only want accommodation its just a easy, and cheaper?

@kosmoz, I have used HomeAway.com for next season (secured a cracking bargain), or you could try hometogo.com as well, they seem to scan all the various sites then re-direct you to the website your chosen apartment is listed on.

Cheers

I used (successfully) airbnb for chalet booking in Bourg Sain Maurice, but also got one home cancelled 3 days before the trip in Norway. So those direct booking services/sharing services, are les secure in this dimmension. Anyway, will take a look at these.

Another airbnb flaw - you have to put all the money in advance. I pretty much know with who I will go, but not 100%. looking for 4bedroom 8person house/chalet/apartment, don't want to put everything 7 months in advance for 8 people. Skifrance, sunweb, belvilla accept 25-30% deposit and everything else 4-6 weeks before arrival, which is reasonable on both sides. What are deposit policies in homeaway?

@kosmoz, it all depends on the property owner, some is all up front, some including security deposit (which really p!!!!s me off, and try to avoid)
Others, are a minimal deposit with balance to pay closer to the arrival date. Some offer free cancellation, where others do not. The same applies with instant confirmation!!!

@kosmoz, go direct as possible.

Often there lists on resort websites - some literally a list, some carry some kind of enquiry mechanism, some you can pay a deposit to secure.

I used this to book a place in April for example.

I've used this UK based provider to book a place in La Tania.

Always use this to book in Les Coches (La Plagne)

Oz-en-Oisans (ADH) holds a list.

@kosmoz, We have used Peak Retreats/Ski Collection many times for ski holidays to France- high end self catering (often places with nice pools etc), self drive including channel tunnel flexi plus ticket. They also offer accommodation only as an option. They are a small friendly company and we have found their customer service very good.
