Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Arlberg, Flexen Pass closures

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
The Lech/Zuers website indicates these passes are closed due to avalanches. Hope everybody is ok. Recognizing that predicting when the roads will reopen is a fool's errand, I nonetheless ask if anyone has an educated guess. I leave for Lech tomorrow and it takes me 20 hours to get there, so I'll be coming through in late afternoon Sunday. If I need to figure out a plan B I should get about it. Any intel? If they remain closed, I thought I might drive to Warth, dump the car there and ski over to Lech. Crazy? Thanks.

Current Lech/Zurs website statement …………….

"Road Report - Last Update: March 15 - 05.00 pm
The Arlbergpass Road B 197 between Alpe Rauz and St. Christoph and the Flexenpass Road B 198 between Langen and Zürs are closed for safety reasons until further notice."

Given that the snowfall has now stopped and the weather forecast is good it is very unlikely that the Flexenpass will stay closed for long, whatever avalanche risk there is will be dealt with. With no more snow forecast the road into Lech should be clear by tomorrow afternoon. I would assume access via from Langen rather than over the Arlberg pass (though that could well be clear by tomorrow afternoon too). In the unlikely event that the road stays closed then no alternative but to sit and wait as it is the only access to Lech in the winter is over the Flexenpass. Up to date info at https://www.oeamtc.at/verkehrsservice/?region=at-7&view=verkehr# the Lech website will have a summary in English.

Of course it does mean great ski conditions for the next few days.

The camera at the junction of the Flexenpass and Arlbergpass shows that the road itself is now clear https://wepowder.com/en/webcam/1477318145 so it is just a question of waiting for any dangerous snow masses to be dealt with.

Thanks gang. Some of the usual suspects, helpful to me again. Come to the West Coast so I can return the favor!
