Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

It is many years since I have done this. Is it still possible to stop just in front of arrivals in what was I seem to remember a 10? min zone for someone to jump in the car (no luggage). If yes how do you pay any cost?
Thanks

Yes you have 15 mins for free (I think). You get a ticket and need to put it in the machines by the exit/lifts

Is Luton still doing the same?

Did it a couple of weeks ago at arrivals at GVA but we were there maybe 25 mins so parked up and went in to arrivals hall, was only 2CHF and very easy to pay at machines etc. Not sure if there's a free grace period if you're able to do a quick pit-stop pickup...

as @BobinCH says. Its 10 mins (just use ticket at exit ) or longer if you pay. Its P2, keep to the far left as you go round and then drop a level.

Easiest thing is to park up at Balexert outdoor parking (free), wait for them to call when they get off the plane, then drive up to arrivals go into the and get them (2 minute drive).
Get a ticket from the arrivals machine on the way in and it'll let you out for free up to 10-12 mins later ( it says 10 mins, but I once tried after 12 and was fine).
No waiting, no faffing, no cost.

@gsb, if thinking about this weekend, be aware that the Geneva Car Show runs until Sunday so anticipate general chaos anyway.

@Bergmeister, I think Luton charge £3 for 'priority' drop off or you can drop off for free in the medium or long term car parks.

I know the feeling. I'd keep it simple. Try something like "I've noticed you around.... would you like to get a drink? "

It's why I refuse to use Stansted. Yes, I can easily afford £3.50 but refuse on principle. It's no less trouble to get to Heathrow (I can jump on the Underground from home).

Be careful at Geneva arrivals whilst its cheap to start it soon ramps up if a flight is delayed, I got stung for 7chf for being one minute over an hour...

@king key, You can do the same at Stansted as at Luton, drop off and pick up for free in the mid or long term car park, not sure which. Like it or not I am afraid they are all moving to this sort of thing. In Lyon, whilst it's free for 10 minutes, you cannot go around twice. To be fair though they have an area outside the airport where you can stop for free and it's equipped with an arrivals board.
Jumping on the underground sounds ideal. Sadly not an option for us from the North Sad

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

It's a shedload more trouble for me to get to heathrow so £3.50 it must be (if the flights suit) or I get the bus

Fair enough, but @kingkey was talking about avoiding it on principle. You could nearly walk to Stansted from Chelmsford couldnt you ? Laughing Makes my 360 mile round trip feel even worse Sad ( Never used the drop off / pick up thing but noticed the signs when I parked my car).

Re geneva - I usually meet people at the petrol station partway to car hire. It’s usually easy to hang around the charter terminal parking lot to wait, as long as it’s not a Saturday. I find the drop zone can be a zoo- I once picked up my wife immediately, but then had to pay for parking as it took so long to exit!

As for the UK. Stansted passenger service charge (buried in your ticket price) £12, Heathrow £30. The airports make their money somehow!

I was at Geneva the other day. Now 5 minutes free for Arrivals pick-up, so you have to be slick and hope for little queuing to get out.

But if you do run over it's still pretty cheap and you can pay at the barrier with a credit card if you're unsure how the time is going and it won't let you out!

If you don't mind a short walk and the flight might be delayed then you can always use one of the long stay like P26. Last weekend it cost me 1chf for about an hour. Also once you have left the car park, you can join straight back onto the motorway** without having to loop back round.

** Note the slip road was closed off last Saturday to help traffic flow due to the Motor Show being on.

All worked a treat, daughter arrived at Geneva before us and waited at the drive through drop off area called ‘Kiss and drop” and just jumped in the car. It seemed quite a few people were doing the same.
