Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Italian version of Carte Neige ?

I’m heading off for my first time skiing in Italy soon. Is there an Italian equivalent to the Carré / Carte Neige like they have when skiing in French resorts to cover insurance / costs to get you off the mountain in case of an accident ?

There is a Dolomite based club equivalent but I can't remember details.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Something similar on offer in the Aosta valley resorts when you buy your lift pass.

I was looking for similar in the Dolomites (Sella Ronda) as someone told my wife they had one, but I could not find a definitive match.

There are the following that I found

The Val Gardena web site has this to say.
Quote:

Slope rescue

On all of the Dolomiti Superski ski slopes you can rest assured that in the case of accident you'll be taken from the slope to the ambulance or helicopter. We really hope that will never be necessary. Emergency service on the slopes has been taken on in Val Gardena, as well as in other destinations, by the Carabinieri of Ortisei for over 30 years. Some volunteers of the Red Cross, the Aiut Alpin Dolomites rescue helicopter, the Pelikan 1 and 2 rescue helicopters and other local rescue services have finally cooperated, too. The emergency service on the slopes and the transport to the next ambulance, are in Val Gardena/Alpe di Siusi free of charge. The functions of the Carabinieri are to coordinate the rescue service and assure the safeness on the slopes in order that all skiers can ski down without concern.

It is somewhat open to interpretation but I took it to mean they'll get you off the slope free to an ambulance, but it is not really clear if that includes a situation where they need a heli to actually get you off the slope. From that perspective, joining the aiut-alpin would presumably ensure cover if that was the case.

Not sure if either of these are what BoardieK refers to.

It is certainly available in Via Lattea. I bought it last March and needed it after a slight mishap. The first responders looked at my lift pass, nodded and then stuck a special sticker on it. Well looked after from then on.

It worked perfectly.

Buy it.

@damobloke1, going where? Monterosa has an insurance for ? E€1.50 a day which makes on slope rescue etc. so trivial (I am otherwise very well insured) that’s it is worth it.

@munich_irish, Yep and no need to worry you won't be covered going off piste of any such stuff. In fact that £1 a week gives you year round S&R cove for anything you happen to be doing in the mountains worldwide apart from top parts of the tallest 250 or so mountains on the planet.

Thanks for the replies guys. I’m off to the Dolomites, staying in La Villa / Alta Badia. I have ski sports insurance cover but just wasn’t sure about getting off the slopes if the case arose. I’ll check out your suggestions, cheers.
