Anyone recommend anywhere?
I've got two pairs of skis that need a wax and edge, one of which could do with a bit of light base repair work.

There's decathlon and Alpenstock in Stockport, but I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see if anyone has any other suggestions

Last time I was in Decathlon I thought the servicing 'booth' near the front door had gone. Having said that I wasn't looking to have skis serviced that day so maybe it was there or maybe they moved it elsewhere.
I forgot about Alpenstock - I've never been in but walked past it a couple of times. Do they do servicing? Had anywork done there, NBT?

Rivington Alpine were my back-up option. I got my boots from them - completely painfree skiing for the first time in 15years - but would prefer somewhere that involves less M60/61.
I've got enough suggestions above to be able to fit in with 'normal' life, probably SnR in Didsbury.

To resurrect an old thread, I’m moving to chortlon I the next month or so, is the snow and rock in didsbury (or at chill factor) any good for ski servicing in peoples opinion? Or should I just make the trip up to Rivington alpine and get them done there?

@MountainIdiot, you can also go to Ventura in St Helens
Personally I find snow & rock very hit and miss, sometimes they have experienced staff who'll do a great job, some days it'll be a junior staff member who's had a 1 day course and never actually skied.. but they charge the same whoever you get so it's better to go to an independent.

thanks @dp, hadn't thought of St Helens, quick google reveal both ventura and rivington alpine are 32 mins drive away, so not too bad really. I presume you have experience with ventura? would you recommend?
Think I may be spending quite a lot of time near there due to work so could work out well, even if i'm not nearby though I suppose its worth those few minutes in the car to go to an independent who cares a bit more
@Themasterpiece, I could do that, but will be moving around a bit over the next 12 months and really won't have the space. once I settle down and have a garage of my own to set up in and store tools etc then i'm sure i'll be paying jon a visit!

@MountainIdiot, I've used Ventura but not for a few years. However, when I did use them they were very helpful and did a good job. I'd recommend them.

+1 for Ventura, proper family-run business with several decades of expertise. Chris and his daughter Kayleigh really know their stuff.

@kittya, bit late, but thanks! Loving it around here!
Took my skis to Ventura in the end - turnaround was a couple of days (apparently up to a week in peak season) but they were happy to hang on to them until whenever I could get around to picking them up. Obviously haven't skied them yet, but they look in great shape, and £22 is excellent value in my book. Can confirm that everyone in the shop is really friendly, so all in all, I'd give them a solid two thumbs up and will certainly be going back!

@MountainIdiot, yes welcome to Chorlton. I live here too. Missed this in August otherwise would have recommended Ventura and Rivington Alpine! (was on holiday) Nearly finished knocking up a ski bench in the bike shed!
