Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Alcohol on return overnight Eurostar

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all, we're travelling to Moutiers in a few weeks on the eurostar and am wondering how strict they are on the overnight return train with regard to souvenir bottles of wine? I presume the alcohol ban was introduced (understandably) to counter the rowdiness on the outbound train but are the booze checks as strict at the French stations on the way back? We have no intention of drinking any on the train but trying to judge whether it's worth risking some bottles in the suitcase

The check in at Bourg Saint Maurice has a pretty rough and ready feel to it, I would be absolutely stunned if you got it confiscated although I haven't tried to being booze back myself

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

All luggage will go through the scanners, so you have to assume they will spot bottles. Whether they will then confiscate them is another matter.

Why do you need a souvenir? Most wines available in Sainsburys etc.

No issues last time I came back by train, just don't take the pi*s. No booze sold on the train does not mean you can't take moderate amounts on. The purpose of the check in BSM or Moutiers is passport related not Duty Free focused.

@panaga52 Not about Duty Free (irrelevant anyway while we are still in the EU). Eurostar make it a condition of travel that you can't take any alcohol on board the overnight direct train - so if they find some they can just confiscate it, with no compensation.
