Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Where to get snow chains TLS to Andorra?

 Poster: A snowHead

We’re renting a car in Toulouse to drive to Andorra. The problems I am worried about are: we’re due to arrive at TLS just after 10 on Sunday. If it was any other day of the week, fine but I’m aware that most big supermarkets etc shut at 1 if they open at all. Where might I get chains from? And might I not need them at all and just drive. The forecast is sun all week. No winter tyres avilable for rental unfortunately. All my previous drives (Austria and Italy), I’ve had winter tyres and never needed chains. We’re going to Soldeu and I see there’s a petrol station just before the village. Can I just wait if there’s no snow forecast and get some there if the forecast changes and it looks like I might need them? Slightly worried as got to leave early for the flight back next Sunday (flight 1030, so 2.5hrs drive and 2 hrs at airport means 6am at the v latest, earlier if any chance of hold ups).

I bought some at a garage €15! They worked ok too. Most of the service stations will be open & sell chains.
We used to drive to Andorra every half term, one year, we had to put the socks on at Foix

Ta, that's just what I was wanting to know.

Will you cross the border at Pas? I normally go from south up through Vella to Soldeu. Every single garage seems to sell snow chains or socks, as do the supermarkets... and if you are crossing at Pas that is the highest point so I'm guessing many of the French shops and garages approaching will do so also.
