From a search on Snowheads, The Fantasticable has been mentioned before, but I'm wondering if anyone here has tried it, and can reveal whether or not it's worth a go?
I was having a picnic in Chatel last season and found the tranquility broken by the sound of someone screaming their lungs out as if they'd just been scared witless by something. Only upon looking above was it revealed to be someone doing a superman impersonation...
How much is it? Do you have to book it in advance, or is it like a fairground ride and you just turn up? Does someone carry your skis/board down to you?
It seems to be based on the ridge between Avoriaz and Chatel, so might be worth checking out if you're there or nearby in the Portes du Soleil.

One of my children tried it and loved it. We were there in the school summer holidays and there was a queue of about 45 mins to pay and get kitted up. I am not sure how it would work in winter.

It is a summer only activity I think, I did it a few years ago. Definitely worthwhile!
We didn't have a long wait, you go across the valley one way, change cables and then come back across landing a bit lower down.
I haven't seen anyone doing it in the winter, although I may be wrong.

Well, it was definitely open last ski season - deep snow everywhere. I think it would have been early April.

there is a similar thing in Lake Tahoe. Costs a small fortune & unfortunate for me, was closed when I was there due to high winds.

I know of some skiers who tried it last year and really enjoyed it.
I think it's one of those things - if you're not tempted, you won't endjoy it but if you are you'll love it.

I've found out that you have to be under 110Kg. Now, is that with clothes on or not? Because with ski gear, I think I'm going to be over.

I think if you are over 110kgs, you end up scraping your nose on the roof tiles of the restaurants at Plains Dranse

My laddie had the opposite problem, too light.
French health and sfatey intervened and they slung him as hard as they could 
The rest of use had wind brakes to slow us down.

My son and husband both did it in the summer years ago when it was new. Both enjoyed it, and both are thrill seekers. Daughter fell foul of the minimum weight (35kg), and as she was wearing t shirt and cycling shorts, there were no pockets we could fill with rocks to weigh her down! Few years later we tried again, and again she wasn't heavy enough, because it was windy and they had raised the minimum weight to 50kg because of it. I've never been tempted, it seemed like a lot of money for what it was.
