Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Feldberg

We are heading to the Black Forest in two weeks and hoping to get some skiing in. Has anybody been to Feldberg recently? Are any of the tiny areas worth a morning or afternoon, or should we stick to the main section?

stayed in the main hotel. I there a few years back. went in late December hoping for early snow but not a snow flake. it was the most boring 4 days of my life. the resort was totally dead and the hotel was worse. no idea what it would have been like if we had a bit of snow but we did walk most of the runs as we had nothing else to do and they seemed very short. go a 100 miles further south and you really open up your options of much better resorts. we actually left fedlberg with 2 days left in our hotel stay. lost the money but kept our sanity.

Feldberg is OK, I wouldn't bother with any of the other smaller areas unless you like variety (and short hills).

Though Todtnauberg was worth a look I suppose.

I've had a lovely day in Feldberg a few years ago, late in the season so not much was open but skied on fresh snow in a tee-shirt which was lovely.
the snow there looks pretty good at the moment and i'm sure will stay like that for a while so i think i would stick to the main resort and have a lovely time. we drove up from Frieburg and that was pretty simple easy and a nice drive - though we could have got the train up

I went for a weekend about a month ago. There was a lot of snow in the region, quite lovely really, and pistes were in good condition. Didn’t go anywhere else though.
