What's the avy risk there?
All top lifts shut here and howling winds even in the forrest on a traverse admittedly on a steep 50 degrees slope a fair sized chunk broke away.
You really do not want to be in any questionable terrain here at the moment.

In a literally pedestrain contrast to @BobInCH's always-impressive heli-ski, off-piste, adrenalin-junkie posts we opted to snowshoe around Etablons today, just to avoid the Sunday crowds, and conditions were excellent for racquette and touring radonneurs as well:
Centre distance is the Etablons baby slope, up above the La Tzoumaz télécabine.

Avi risk was 3 here. Snow pack pretty stable but there were some slabs on the North/Eastern faces due to the recent South Westerly winds. I was with a guy who knows what he’s doing (ex-pisteur) and he tested the steep slopes and released the top sluff layer by traversing high just under the rock bands. Great guy to learn from. I wouldn’t have done B52 if it was me leading - too much exposure.

@BobinCH, Ha ha one way of looking at it, 15 is a young age to be doing that, he must be a gun skier. I took my lad into a couple of lines over 40 degrees for the first time when he was 12 last year but we had deep snow and easy access to the couloirs although when he did one run with an instructor he missed the first turn & went over the handlebars but luckily landed on his feet. The instructor was at first slip to catch him just in case but I’m glad I wasn’t there to see it!

@BobinCH, are you the one on the far left of the photo? If so, I am sure we shared a gondola today (Veysonnaz, or L’Ours?). In fact, we’d watched your videos last night in awe... our skiing is much more sedate!
