Poster: A snowHead
|
Hello All,
My best laid plans to have my skis safely courier from Glasgow to Bristol in advance of a flight this Saturday (26th) have unfortunately fallen flat.
I therefore have an urgent requirement to have my skis shipped this week, and am struggling to determine the best option.
If anyone has any experience of this situation - and has recommendations on couriers, shipping (will a bubble wrapped ski bag so?!), etc.
Any advice would be much appreciated - thanks in advance
JP

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thank you!
Any idea on shipping requirements. Unfortunately I’m overseas with work, and am not therefore with the skis. At present, I have a set of 189 preachers in a large/thick rossignol bag.
If I can get them rolled in bubble wrap (or similiar) will that be sufficient?
Apologies for the tirade of questions.

@DJP23, In that bag they should be fine. You just need a courier. I would choose an overnight option, (by doing so you are building in further options if there is any delay). If you can get them bubble wrapped before the courier collects, that wouldn't be a bad thing, but remember couriers are just like baggage handlers, and you won't bubble wrap before you fly. Alternatively, for £600 I will drive to Edinburgh, collect them and deliver them to you at whatever time you specify in Bristol.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

DJP23,
Have a look on www.parcel2go.com
I've just put in a 10kg parcel for a quote (180cm x 15cm x 15cm) and prices start at £15.99.

Paisley Freight are very good & I've had a pair of the 189 preachers delivered by them for less than £20. A mix of bubble-wrap & card kept them safe.

I would avoid Parcel2Go. I booked a next day delivery with them and they failed to collect. They have given no explanation - SO annoying. Avoid unless you want to be disappointed
