Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Advice needed, Snowmobile rental near Superdevoluy

As per title really. We will be driving and ideally would like to do something for a few hours on a Saturday before driving home.

Also any tips on Superdevoluy would be appreciated. Can't wait to see what £120 a head including lift pass gets us. Smile.

Have stayed in Superdevoluy a few times. I'd say it's hard to beat value-for-money wise. The resort itself is dominated by a 60s building, the Bois D'Aurouze (sp?) - a couple of floors of shops and restaurants and then ten more of accommodation. It was built as a ski resort in a building. It's ugly. But it doesn't matter - as soon as you're up the first lift you don't see it. Smile

There's a rental shop on the right hand side of the big building (as you look up the hill) - they have ski lockers - very handy if you're walking down from the newer accommodation behind the big building (Chalets de SuperD/Hameau du puy).

There's enough skiing to keep me occupied for a week, and I only ever remember one bad queue for a drag lift that I think has now been replaced by a chair.

I don't recall there being any snowmobiling to do, but there are stables offering ski-joering (skiing behind a horse) - we didn't do it, but I quite fancy the idea. I think there's a have-a-go at cross country skiing facility too.

The resort is definitely smaller than anywhere else I've stayed in in the alps, but that does lend it a friendlier atmosphere, and of course - you're never far from *anything*. And it's not full of Brits!

If you're planning on eating out on the last (Fri)day of your stay, get a reservation in early. Everywhere gets booked up pretty quick - well it did at half term week anyway.

I'd love to go back there again, got quite a soft spot for it.
