Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Solo Skiing

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi Guys,
Been looking for months for relatively cheap place to ski solo. The best I've found seems to be cold fusion chalets.
Just wondering if anyone might have any better suggestions?
I'm 22 looking some somewhere with life and don't fancy skiing and après skiing completely on my bill rolling eyes
Thanks

UCPA would be a good place to have a look at. Their UK agent is action outdoors. I’ve done 4 trips with them including one solo. If you follow action outdoors on Facebook you get to see all their late deals as well.

I've found that the cheapest way to do solo is just book yourself a studio that is designed for no more than 2 people.

Had a perfectly decent one in La Chapelle D'Abondance about 3 years ago. £160 for the week. It was the first week in Jan, so at rock bottom price.

Granted I did feck all socialising that week, but that suits me fine Very Happy

I went with Cold Fusion a few years back to their Morzine place which was pretty good. Their newer places look rather good. This year I considered them again as well as Hofnar, Ski Weekends, Action Outdoors and a few others. There are quite a few solo companies that cater more for the older clientele that probably wouldn't be best for you.

i"ve been on my own loads of times, all my mates although in their 50"s still go to benidorm every year to get drunk and eat pie and chips, but i digress, i usually look around the catered chalet companies and see who got any rooms available, sometimes you can get a very good deal, and although you go on your own you soon make friends in the chalet and you dont have to eat alone, i know its not for everyone but it works for me.

Good call compostcorner, that's what I've done this year. I went for a really decent chalet which had the most reasonable single occupancy rates. Naturally the later you leave it, the better chance of sorting a deal and there does appear to be availability. The company I'm going with have got some cracking deals for the next week or so.

UCPA would fit the bill perfectly. Done it three times solo and always meet great people and have a good time.

I'm going on my own this year, and have found it incredibly cheap.

Air bnb is £156 for the week for a whole apartment. Throw in lift pass, flights and hire car and we are talking £501 for the week.

Granted there will be little apres, but that's fine with me and I know some locals fir a meet up if I wish

I did 4 days under £400 in Chamonix on my own all inclusive. Ski Station Hostel is 20 euros/night and it's literally next to Brevent. I did 3.5 intense skiing days but felt something was missing... some good friends. Try to find someone to go along

I did Cold Fusion Les Houches one year, when I couldn't find others who wanted to go at the same time as me. I was about 36 then. Good range of ages from c. 21 to c. 55, range of backgrounds and abilities, pleasant getting to know people at lunch and over a drink at the end of the day. Food, transfers, ski transport, chalet all of very good standard. I'd definitely recommend.

@jordo97, Good choice, I've done a few UCPA trips now mainly on my own and I've always had a great time and met loads of people. I've actually also done a couple of cold fusion trips and I much prefer UCPA.
