Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Can anyone suggest an economic way to ship a ski bag with two pairs of skis to Niseko Japan from France ?
Unable to carry as luggage as we have a circuitous route before arriving in Sapporo and onwards later.
Current quote from UPS €2000!!
Thanks

Are you going direct to Japan from France, but doing other things in Japan before going to Sapporo? Or do you mean that you are going to places other than Japan before Sapporo?. If it is the former then Japan has a brilliant luggage transfer system. Costs about €20 per ski bag.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks ...we are travelling extensively before and after we visit Niseko so we were looking at a way of shipping directly from France...
I think we will hire skis seems the obvious solution.

Cheers

@lunch mike, like Ski NZ said, there's a very efficient luggage transport system within Japan. If you're staying at a Japanese place in Niseko they will often happily hold your bag for you until you turn up. So you can take your bag on the plane with you and then take it to the luggage transport place in the airport ("tack-you-bin") and ask them to send it to your accommodation. Then when you're done skiing, pack everything back up and get the hotel to send it back to the airport. Do your sightseeing and then pick it up at the airport on your way to check-in.

But you're also right that hiring skis is an easy answer.
