The 60+Ski club is off to 1850 this weekend and wondered if there's an update on the resort, lunch/food-wise, age appropriate drinking venues plus of course "happy" hours (if they still exist in that part of the world), Any intel welcome

OK, so in resort and I've found a couple of niche places where there's cheapish beers to be had....bearing in mind this is the village that charges upto €29 for a burger!!
The Olympic Bar , sitting under the Olympic hotel, in Rue de Tovets, does a Happy Hour between 6pm & 7pm when the Grolsh is €4 a 'pint' (Standard rate being €6 for the same 50cl pint outside of happy hours.) Wine starts at €4 a glass.
It's a small mid range, laid back- in spite of the existence of a pool table at the front bar area- a bar with decent seating at the back. FREE WiFi is available.
Front of house were Hugo and Tiffany and both gifted English speakers.

The "El Pirate Bar" which is the village Tabac with a cramped bar but a few scattered tables away to the side. It's atmosphere ranges from French-PMU-tension to downright rowdy.
Offers nothing other than uncomplicated town bar hospitality and the conventional "Demi" (Kronenbourg in my case) will set you back €2.70

Head down to The Ski Lodge in Latania - lovely run down to resort, with a good choice for all abilities and soooo much cheaper than 1850!

Thanks for that..We liked the Pizza 'gazeebo' down there BUT it is quite a bit out of the way.

If you get caught in La Tania there is, or certainly was, a free navette that runs quite late back to Courchevel.

The alternative is to end the day in 1650 cheaper than 1850. Or go there for lunch. Good places for lunch on the snow front are Fahrenheit which has a new chef this season. They are doing poke bowls and seared Thai style steak and tuna which were great. Portetta is good for lunch but we had a rubbish dinner there at Christmas high end prices with tiny portions and poor service. For dinner in 1650 Petit Savoyard is very good or the cheap and cheerful alti crepe.
