Planning trip to CO end of Jan;
Skiing Aspen and perhaps drive all the way to Telluride for few days anyone local could give an update of snow condition so far this season.?

Why drive all the way to Telluride? Do you have an Epic Pass or Ikon Pass? Aspen is on the Ikon Pass and Telluride is on the Epic Pass. You might be able to get 10%-15% off by booking lodging through the resort portal. Lift tickets are not cheap in the USA. Walk up window price will hurt, unless of course money is no object. You might just want to wait and see if the Front Range resorts get the goods, or maybe Steamboat is doing well. Either way, if you are flexible you can drive to the best conditions if that is what you are after.
In terms of weather, Telluride has done fairly well with recent storms. This season is a weak El Nino, and there have been several storms that have favored the Southern resorts of Purgatory, Wolf Creek, Taos, and Telluride. Forecast that far out are anyone's guess but the base snow levels won't be an issue.

I'm off at the end of the month for my annual North American skiing. My friends live in Steamboat (about 100 mile due north of Aspen) and they have been raving about the snow this season.

Hi Toadman
I was thinking to drive to Telluride because I heard it is a good resort with less crowd compare to the front range resorts..but perhaps it won't justified such long drive as you suggested?
I just hope to get some powder days while Im there in CO...

We've skied in Colorado and the USA many times over the past 25 years - each time during school holidays in February (when it was US Presidents Weekend Holiday) or New Year - and never found anywhere crowded (by European standards). That includes Vail, Beaver Creek and neighbouring Summit County resorts, plus Aspen and Winter Park.
I don't think you need trail all the way to Telluride.
