Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Geneva to Chamonix - Private Transfer My Only Option?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Morning All

Hope everyone is good. It's just 4 weeks till my Chamonix trip, most excited!

We arrive in Geneva at 3pm. There are 3 of us travelling.

We want to get to Chamonix ASAP. On that basis, I was thinking that maybe Shared transfer does not make sense, as we would be forced to wait for others. I was thinking AlpyBus for shared?

Unless anyone knows of shared transfers that might not leave us sat around waiting, then I will book private.

Thanks
R

With three of you it would probably be cheaper hiring a car.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If you’ve got the cash to spare, then sure, private transfer will be good. But if you’re arriving mid afternoon on a weekend in high season I wouldn’t have thought it takes much to fill a minibus so I doubt you’d wait particularly long for a shared transfer.

Possibly - and could be useful for getting up and down the valley - but it'll be busy (French school hols) so unless your accommodation provides parking, you will probably have to pay to leave it somewhere. A car can be a pain, sometimes.

@rossyl, private transfer is rather expensive just to get to the pub faster. It's not as though you are missing out on any skiing. And there's a bar or two in the airport...

@rossyl, apart from those mentioned above, others offering transfers from GVA include:
getawayvans.com
magic-transfers.com
CoolBus
SkiidyGonzalez.com

If affordable, a car is handy for Chamonix Valley and other nearby areas if you wanted to visit, eg Evasion Mont Blanc, Courmayeur.

Otherwise I doubt a private transfer is worth the extra cost.

Depends when you are going. If I fly in for a long weekend and can't be bothered with car hire I tend to opt for shared plus option that is a mid point between shared and private. Never had a long wait.

^This. Since by that time there'll be no skiing to be done I don't get the urgency Puzzled

We used alpy bus shared transfer option. Left the airport about 50mins after we landed. So not too much waiting around after getting bags from the hold.
