Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Strong gloves/mittens for boarding

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,

I tend to fall over quite a lot as I am always trying stuff I cant do yet so i am looking for some really strong gloves/mittens around the finger tips and the palm area.
I have some racer gloves that have just fallen apart at the seams everywhere and the other day I bought some Racer mittens with double wrist protection in and made from leather (or so we thought the girl in the shop said) but after 2 days I had worn right through the palm area on both of them and I hadnt even fallen as much as normal on those days, after looking at them more closely they werent leather, just a couple of small patches on the back were. I took them back and got my money back so am now looking for something nice and strong.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

I have some level fly gloves/gauntlets. They've got removable wristguard and a really durable palm material, it's matt black with a weave pattern in it (probably to look like carbon fibre or something). The've done me a good few (15?) weeks and are only really showing signs of palm wear in the last trip.

Why not wear wristguards over your gloves? Demon flexmeters are really strong wristguards.

I also have level fly, but without knowing how your managing to destroy gloves, it would be difficult to know if they any good.

I got level mittens as well somewhere. Only wore them a week. Didnt like mittens. If I can find them, happy to sell them!

I'll have a look at the level fly gloves

I quite happy to get separate wristguards, I wanted an all in one but now I'd rather have good strong gloves/mittens and sort out the wristguard later if needed.

If you find the mittens can you send me some pics please

Thanks

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

All in ones are streets ahead of separate gloves and guards, I've had both (level day and Dakine/Dakine)and it's a real pain putting and taking off. If you feel you no longer need wristguard the guards in the level gloves are easily detachable so you end up with a well fitting glove at the end.
