Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The world's greatest freeriders stir coffees in Les Arcs

One of this week's major snow events was due to be the North Face Freeride in Les Arcs ... 80 of the world's top freeskiers from 10 countries - taming the mighty Aiguille Rouge.

Sadly, white-out weather seems to have put paid to the week's action, judging from this report (in French) on skipass.com. The photos speak for themselves:

Monday (qualification day) was great, but that seems to have been about it. The official site:

The circus moves on to Kirkwood, USA, for some Californian sunshine ... hopefully ... from 29 March to 3 April.

It's currently dumping it down in NorCal, but I'm sure the sun will shine there soon.

Was up there Monday taking photos - conditions ideal then but not perfect - a bit tracked out in fact. Talk then was of the rest of the competition being in doubt, people already knew what the forecast was. Talking to the piste security director this morning up at Arc 1800, it was clear that there was absolutely no other option. 120kpg gusts at altitude today, all the 2000 domain closed, punters being shuttled down by bus to ski in 1600 and 1800. Even the main lift in Villaroger - Violettes - was closed.

Temps have risen a little but it's still snowing down in Bourg St Maurice.
