I may choose to be offended by the fact these morning sessions are only on week day morning, so of course after the school run and while hubby is away at work...
But I won't because it's obviously successful, useful and generally there are a million more important things to be offended by. Oh, and apparently men are allowed to have lessons at the same time, shock horror.
Otherwise, I'm just going to agree with tangowaggon, context etc.

@boisdevie, No. I don't find you very serious either.
If was large majority of women women skiing I'd agree. As it is men outnumber women and I for one support getting women involved in any way possible. Including positive discrimination.
I'm a man. A real one.

Read the link which @rob@rar added at 1805 @boisdevie. Explains it all perfectly. Discrimination is only unlawful if it makes unjustified distinctions. It isn't discrimination, for example, that only people with certain kinds of diabetes are prescribed insulin at the taxpayer's expense.

I'm one who isn't maybe as confident and I work in a male dominated world. I've found some work related women's groups really valuable. It mitigates the inevitable willy waving you get at my level in the industry.
I suspect that the ski morning is more a cleverly marketed way to get numbers up though, week day mornings, who is most likely to be looking for activity and social.

Sexism in skiing has been around for decades.
Green runs, button lifts and short skis were all made for girls.

I'm not keen on wimmin's gatherings either but have no objection to them in principle. Nor do I object to gentlemen's clubs, a stuffy, outdated concept but if that's what they want, fine, it doesn't harm me in any way.

And this is exactly the point.
Too many people getting easily offended these days, screaming PC
It's almost like it's a battle.
I note there was a womens only music concert somewhere over the other side of the pond. Set up because men cant behave and they wanted to feel safe. Whilst I take offence at the generalisation knowing I can keep it in my pants most of the time I totally understand why women want to feel safe and just enjoy the music.
Everyone got all PC over it, womens only, what an outrage. If they'd called it a lesbian only concert, no body would have batted an eye lid. What's the difference.
Too much generalisation, Political correctness and people getting offended for others these days.
And dont get me started on the whole vegan cat thing
That said, women still cant reverse!

@holidayloverxx, the CRM just apparently doesn’t work as well. It was the airline head of safety presenting and he offered to back it up with the data and underlying research they’d done, as the general opinion was that they massively prefer female pilots, just not all-female flight crews.

Ugh, I didn't. My experience was that, if you worked at a senior level, many of them expected you to fight their battles for them, while they just sat back and whinged. Maybe I was unlucky, though. Anyway, it's not like that now, the field is no longer so male-dominated.

I can wave my...non existent... willy as much as the next person...but at the end of the day that's juvenile. Don't fall for it...it needs to be ignored and overcome by achievement not mitigating. Mitigating is giving in to it and seeing it as normal.

CRM? In my world that means customer relationship management...don't think that's the CRM you mean. Whatever it is how is it meant to work and why doesn't it work as well? Genuine question.

My end of it is still pretty male dominated, agree it's changing and becoming less so though. Used to get heckled a lot on site, now more likely to be meeting a female site manager.
I think I never expected women's groups to actually do anything, but it was just nice to be in a room with other high achieving women, and share experience. Learn how to mentor others, etc. Think it's all horses for courses though - I've never felt that learning skiing with blokes has been a problem!

In aviation, CRM is crew resource management, a risk mitigation/minimisation approach. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crew_resource_management

@holidayloverxx, and I am sorry, but it was a talk about 8 years ago and I can't recall the distinct arguments. but they were pretty solid. and interesting. The core point was actually more about choosing the right individuals for certain positions, and that there was a certain gender mapping on to that, rather than the other way around.
Fascinating.

Actually, I definitely need to learn more about this. As a female airline pilot who flies quite often with other female airline pilots I’ve never heard of this and have no idea who you might be talking about. I know about most things that go on in the industry that affect women, because I talk with other female pilots about it, while we are knitting and occasionally trying to park our plane.
For anyone wondering, CRM is crew resource management, sometimes called cockpit resource management. It applies to training and communication methods in safety critical working environments.
