Poster: A snowHead

Hello all
Quick question for anyone who might have some insider information. We arrive in Chamonix on christmas eve around 7ish. Does anybody know if any of the supermarkets or restaurants are likely to be open? Also the same sort of question for christmas day (are bakeries likely to open)? Just trying to figure out what we may need to bring with us in terms of food etc .
Thanks

Everything open Xmas day.
Xmas eve not so sure. That’s the main French celebration.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

In my experience in the region the boulangeries, patisseries etc will have done a roaring trade during late afternoon and early evening and shelves might be pretty bare by 7pm on Christmas Eve, when they'll be looking to close. Restaurants will be busy - it's the main night for eating out. To be safe, book yourselves a table somewhere or you might find there's no room at the inn.
Are you driving to Chamonix? There's a convenient boulangerie in Sallanches which should still be open.

And all open normal hours. Christmas Day. And unless you are taking absurd amounts of ski gear plenty of room in your luggage for some delicious emergency nosh.

@dye, I’d expect train to St Gervais Les Bains then a bus from there whose timetable probably doesn’t match too well...
