Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Easter at Kitzbuhel

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi folk, hope your pre- Christmas preparations are going well Smile

I'm looking at taking the nippers Easter skiing in 2020 (I like to plan ahead). Came across an article that suggested late season skiing at Kitzbuhel, which goes against what I'd always thought- that as a low resort, it suffers from poor snow.

Any experience of this? Thoughts and opinions?

Many thanks, Nick.

Kitzbuhel is low but has excellent snowmaking. So I'd wager that (in a normal year) plenty of runs would still be open at Easter, but might be quite slushy in the afternoons.

To be honest, wouldn't be my first choice for Easter / April. I'd usually be aiming higher.

However, hopefully someone will answer who has actually been there! Laughing

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Im a big Kitzbuhel fan and I would be reluctant to go that late in the season, unless it has been exceptional for snow. The snow at Pass Thurn/Jochberg will be good but elsewhere you will probably be skiing on white ribbons that get heavy and slushy by early afternoon.

Ok peeps, you've convinced me to look elsewhere. Thanks for the feedback.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

We had a really good week’s skiing in Kitzbuhel at Easter a few years ago. No white ribbons, there was plenty of snow around. We even had a heavy snowfall one day. Most of the days it got quite sugary from lunch onwards, but still skiable. However, I wouldn’t book this far out, I’d leave it until a few weeks before to book so you can be sure that conditions will be fine.
