We aren't skiing this year. It's fracking awful.
Next year we are moving to Canada to be near the steep and deep. I'm 40 and happy to charge down the slopes but for the trees I want something fat, turny and probably short. Not good enough to ski fast through the trees want something that will function in powder at reasonable speeds.
Tried Armada chx 118 in 180 and thought they were pretty ideal. Any other suggestions?

Whitedot Redeemer is now discontinued and we're selling the last few off at discounts as fat as the skis. Got one left in 180cm trad, a couple of 190cm trads and one 190cm CarbonLite left. Would be superb for your requirements.

I'm a little bit lighter than you but probably a bit stronger skier. I've got a pair of redeemer trad 180 and find them great fun in the trees. Boat loads of float and very nimble. If I was charging big open bowls then 190 would be better but from your description I think the 180 would be ideal. I've never worried about keeping the tips out on the 180s.
BTW @spyderjon, what are they replacing them with?

They're not. The Redeemers are brill but the market (especially the euro market) is very pretty limited for a 5 point 128mm design ski so my understanding is that it's really a commercial decision - especially as their other big skis (the Rags and the Altum 114's) perform so well in powder but also offer a lot more versatility.

How much do the 180s weigh? There will be touring

@Hurtle, a bit harsh - 6ft is still taller than average and 12.5 is hardly fat for that height. What’re you trying to hide?

@Gordyjh, No worries. I'm sure if you make it to a bash and shout out "Free drink for the short and fat lady" you will be forgiven

That fits with my experience, actually. Redeemers are amazing for a handful of days in the season but very specialised. Being a bit of a tightwad I could only justify them because I got a stock clearance deal from you and have a ski locker in the Alps. I'm actually quite reassured by that - I'm always a bit amazed by people saying they like skiing these kind of skis in all conditions when that is not my experience at all!

@motdoc,
except for the specific role of powder day touring I wouldn't recommend a ski like this for touring. The weight isn't the issue (they are pretty light) but touring generally is going to put you on a wider range of conditions and I'd not want to be in a scoured gully or traversing an icy slope on redeemers. Go for something that is a less pure powder plaything like R108CL

Thanks for the advice. Living in interior BC. If it's not snowy I'm not going Was there for the last two years and with a ten minute walk there was deep powder pretty much all year. Hour long walks out of back bowls. Not planning anything icy.
Nordica 100 for not as snowy days. Lovely skis. Got marker f12s on them, they're a bit heavy and not wide enough.
I was thinking of the Bent Chetler 120 or the tracer in the inevitable spring sales.

@motdoc, I use Bents for touring (up to 2 - 3 hours), a little heavy but so worth it on the way down

While Redeemers are obviously great in deep pow they are also awesome in Spring Euro Corn/ slush. #spraynpray

@motdoc,
If you can test them try the DPS Alchemist 124 for lift/short hike served powder. Just superb.

@Hurtle, the fault was mine. I obviously was in a bad mood and lost my sense of humour - I’m not overtall myself and getting fatter by the minute, unless some pervert really is shrinking my clothes in my wardrobe!
