Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Getting to Arc 1950

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi,

Can someone let me know what is the best way to get from Bourg St Maurice (train station) to Arc 1950? I know you can get the lift upto Arc 1600 then the bus but that seems alot of effort and messing about especially with 8 people and lots of bags!

Cheers Very Happy

The last time I went up to Arc 1600 there was a choice of the funicular, the scheduled bus, or the taxi.

I do remember it being quite an effort hauling bags over the bridge to the funicular platforms, so the taxi or bus (which presumably serves 1950 too) would certainly be best.

we paid €60 for a taxi carrying 5 last year to 1950 (and a police escort past an accident due to 'local' knowledge / brother in law apparently) So €12 each - thought that was fine. Will probably be doing the same in 47 hours with 7 of us...

Funicular is a faff after a long journey, and as DS says, a trek over the bridges with heavy suitcases. It's also not that much cheaper since the tickets aren't free unless you already have your week's pass. Go'on, treat yourself!

Taxis carrying 8 people aren't always easily available.... try local taxi firm Aarthur Taxis

Pascal or Michèle - they should be able to arrange something for you at a reasonable rate - (mention my name Pete Garwood) - make sure you ask for the best price possible!

Cheers Pete, Pascal is picking us up from BSM on Saturday afternoon. Thanks for your help, and lets hope the roads are clear to get us up to the resort!
