Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Alternative to Val Thoren

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi All,

Went to Val Thoren last year which was amazing with the selection of runs. But after an alternative resort (if exists) that have lots of runs to do, preferably in the alps.

I don't do much apres as just hit the slopes for a solid 7 hours, my group are solid intermediates ski wise.

We would be looking to go mid march.

Many Thanks

The big resorts in France include Le Plagne/Les Arcs and Tignes/Val d’isere. I also like Alpes D’huez
I know there are other big resorts but these all have interconnected runs, which makes travelling around really easy.
I like finding a smaller village linking into to these places, which gives good value for money, especially if apres isn’t important.
Les Arcs 1650 was brilliant last year. We got more skiing than those in higher resorts as they had too much snow and lifts were shut. We’ve stayed in Vaujany which links to Alpes d’huez, great value. Looking at La Tania this year linking into 3 vallees and Val Thorens.

Hi Jason,
You will shortly receive a whole lot of answers for this one.
I'd suggest you try Tignes .. if you were more into apres ski then you should try Austria.

As @Lucywuk, close neighbours of 3V ski area that offer different ski domain but very good match of experience in travelling around on piste.

I like staying in Les Arcs 1800 for that area, but each village offers something a little different.

Also would be worth adding Avoriaz to the list, central to a very large and varied ski area of PDS.

A little smaller but with great connected skiing, Flaine for the GM ski area.

@jason.peter1986,
Espace Killy (Tignes/Val D’Isere/La Daille)
Other end of 3V, eg Courchevel Moriond 1650.
Paradiski (Les Arcs/La Plagne).

Mid March good time for those.

Verbier, Via Lattea, Les Sybelles, St. Anton-Lech, Saalbach, Ski Welt, Cervinia-Zermatt, Serre Chevalier.
If you don't mind the occasianal bus/train at the start if the day, then Zillertal is also a massive area.

Last year with the snow it was Laughing

We loved it as 1950 and 2000 had a days of being snowed in and days they couldnt get out of their bowl, we could still ski all across to Vallandry etc. We prefer little resorts and loved the ease of the funiculaire from getting off the train at Bourg to being at our hotel in 30 mins.
