Poster: A snowHead

Any recommendations for restaurants in Sallanches please? Staying on a Friday night in the Ibis so we can get a full days skiing on the Saturday but need somewhere reasonable to eat

Haha. While a good question, I can’t imagine many of the audience will have much experience!
We had a nice lunch at http://www.orangeriemontblanc.com a few years ago...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I usually eat at the big shopping centre - on the right as you drive into Sallanches from the A40. The caff on the right as you stand in the car park. Always seems friendly. Whole place closed Sundays. Not a gourmet experience but does the job. There's also a MacDonalds in the same complex if you want to go more corporate! The "posher" place on the other side of Carrefour is not great, IME. Cheap fuel in the same complex. Excellent boulangerie open later than most further into town on the right, with plenty of parking. A life saver when driving late from Geneva.

Rodriguez,
We've eaten a few times (but not for a few years) at an Italian in the town. It always had very nice, reasonably priced pizzas - and the bonus of draft Leffe!
It was only a 5 minute drive from the Ibis. Hopefully it is still there... on the left side after the shopping centre mentioned above.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

under a new name,
On the contrary, I imagine many s will have stayed in Sallanches for its proximity to Chamonix, Les Houches and Megeve.

@Bergmeister, I really don’t think that’s true!

I've often suggested it - but not aware that it's happened much. Good base though, especially with the new IBIS budget hotel.

I would suggest the La Boucherie (chain) which was right by the Ibis but now shut - probs due to Courte Paille chain in the Carrefour complex right by the Ibis. Also stayed one the Ibis on a Friday night and will be doing so again this winter - great way for DIYers to avoid Saturday flight premiums by flying Friday night. As an extra bonus you can even go to Au Vieux Campeur and have them cut skins by the yard for you so you can wave them at other smug posters on the forum.

China Wok in the new shopping area opposite Carrefour - not tried but have friends that have used it for years and enjoy it.
