Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

NYs ski trip - stick with St Gervais or change to (near) Verbier??

 Poster: A snowHead

What would you do?? We've booked flights to Geneva and a hire car for an 8 day trip over New Years and booked a lovely boutique hotel in St Gervais. However, I'm starting to get paranoid regarding the possible snow conditions, bearing in mind that St Gervais is not particularly high and it's early in the season. We've found a cheap AirBNB in the Bruson area near Verbier which is apparently ski in/ski out, and obviously the 4 Vallees being a higher ski region in general will possibly be a safer bet for snow. But I can't decide whether to cancel the St Gervais hotel (it's fully refundable) and change to Verbier instead. The AirBNB chalet is considerably cheaper than the St Gervais hotel, but I'm guessing the cost of living in Switzerland will be higher than France. Help me decide please!!

NY in StG will be very hit & miss conditions, on the upside you are only 10 mins drive from Les Contimens or 20 Mins from Chamonix. I'm more interested in the boutique hotel! is it the white cat?

@surferrosa, Bruson is 2 gondola’s (approx 30mins) from Verbier, north facing (not much sun) and very quiet. May be ok if the accommodation is right by the gondola back to Le Chable and you’re not bothered about nightlife. We typically go to Bruson on bad weather days as it has great trees but if the sun is shining you’re going to want to do most of your skiing on the Verbier side. Check also Le Chable if you’re on a budget, want easier Verbier access and a bit more nightlife.

Ps although, this was Jan 2nd in Bruson last year...

@surferrosa, how are you getting to St-Gervais? Will you have a hire car?

If so, I'd probably stick with it as, if snow conditions happen to be poor, there are a few high resorts within a short drive.

I'm sure your aware but that's a fair hike back from pubs in town if your planning on going out for a drink.
