Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Boot fitter in the SW?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I've decided that I'm too much of an expert
Fat bastard
to continue with my current boots. Atomic sell them as a 90 flex and I'm usually hovering around 17st (not literally hovering, obviously given my weight). I tried to plan a visit to Solutions 4 Feet when I was up that way for something a month or so back, but Colin was either too busy or closed so I knocked it on the head and it's a bit of a slog to do as a journey specifically to buy boots.

Skip to the end:Anyone know of decent boot fitters in the SW?

My previous boots were S&R and have served me reasonably well given they are largely unaltered (other than heat shrinking the liners and an off the shelf footbed). I've also heard of Devon Ski Centre down Newton A-boot but not sure what they're actually like. Anyone got ideas/suggestions/experience? Another option is to lose some ski time on the first day of my trip to Avoriaz at new year, but then I'll be joined by a sprawling mass of people trying to rent kit too. Or I bite the bullet and make a trip to CEM or Profeet, but boots and fitting are expensive enough without adding another £100 for travelling etc.

@SnoodlesMcFlude, not quite south west... but certainly south central, I was very happy with the fittings service I received in Snowtrax which is just north of Bournemouth.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@SnoodlesMcFlude, Used Devon ski at Heathfield a few years ago and found them fairly good. I don't know if they have changed much since but they are not going to match CEM for specialized fit. But if your fit is fairly standard without too much manipulation you should be ok. you can always give them a try and walk away if not satisfied as its not too far to travel. It might be worth a phone call to see how much variety they have in stock for your size and experience level of boot.

@SnoodlesMcFlude, make the effort to go and see CEM at s4f. It's worth the effort and you don't have to go anywhere near Bicester Village! Best investment I made last season were the boots from Colin. I even managed to ski, and sort of keep up with, JK, StevemM and BFG for a day or two Smile
