Does any one know the probability of decent snow in La Plagne week 26 Jan to 2nd Feb (2019).
Unfortunately for me I cant go 2nd Feb for a week as my oldest son has booked to go then and as we work together so one of us needs to be providing cover and it seems to get very pricey further into the season.
Last year we went out 3-10th Feb 2018 and snow was much much better than the year prior when we went 7-14th Jan 2017. In fact so much better than we could ski the left side of the resort below Bellecote which was not open the previous year
Also if anyone knows of any decent apartments for rent for the week 9th to 16th Feb. I would be really interested.

If anyone does they are a liar. This far in advance you can only speak in general. And in general that week is coming into peak winter. I would expect it to be cold, if conditions have been good early season, it will hold. Doubt they'll be much slush about! There may be fresh falls, and if so, it can be epic. But equally it might just be dull and cold. It's a low risk time of year in general.

Once you hit the French/UK holidays prices scoot up before relenting again afterwards.

Last season was an epic, arguably exceptional season, whilst the previous two seasons were generally poor. Nobody will know which way this one will go.

Have you looked on the La Plagne official website. We book through that - they do good apartment + lift pass prices, similar to sunweb.

@swarmcatcher, yes, there will be snow. Even in your bad year of 2017 there was lots of snow at the end of Jan (On The Snow shows big dumps mid Jan 2017)

Can only speak from experience. We were in La Plagne Village during the last week of Jan this year.
The snow all across La Plagne from Montchavin up to Bellecôte was epic. I appreciate last season was exceptional but on the whole, you should have fairly decent snow about end of Jan.
We normally always aim for that week. I find it’s a good balance between good chances of snow, avoiding school holidays and decent prices.
Obviously it’s a fair bit colder but I run hot anyway so no bother for me!

@swarmcatcher, late Jan and early March are probably the best times of the season for top to bottom snow cover, excluding February peak weeks. Nothing can be guaranteed, but it's as good a bet as any.

@swarmcatcher, The difference in probability for decent snow in two consecutive weeks at that time of the year must be very little.
Everyone has has a slightly different perception of what is decent snow, but I wouldn't be concerned which of the two weeks I was going on if offered a choice.

No, because it depends on what your definition of "decent snow" is.
If you say it is a snow depth of 30cm at village level is decent snow then go to a site such as http://www.myweather2.com/Ski-Resorts/France/La-Plagne/historical-snow-data.aspx (the ski club of GB used to publish this data also) and look at the data. Count the number of years when the depth exceed the theshold (in my example 9) and divide it by the total number of years (in my example 10) and your uncle is called Robert 0.9
So the answer to your question is 0.9

Late January is about as reliable as it gets. Don't hesitate for a moment.

La Plagne has one of the best snow records and longest ski seasons in the world.
The resort is high.

@swarmcatcher, virtually certain there’ll be plenty snow coverage.
Whether the top surface, those vital 3 or 4 inches, will be in good condition, is down to luck.
My experience is that late Jan is a great time to ski.

I don't think snow cover will be your problem at that time of year. I think you problem will be the crowds. La Plagne is deservedly very popular and attracts lots of people. The way the resort works, there are places like Plagne Centre that are choke points at busy times, which can lead to big queues. The lift system is very efficient, but all the same, it gets busy.
In no way am I trying to put you off. La Plagne is excellent, and the snow will not be a problem.

Longest I had to wait this season in late Jan was about 10 mins but that was at Plagne Bellecote (Colosses and Blanchets) at going home time. Apart from that, it was the usual couple of mins of shuffling max. In the "quieter" places like down at Montalbert or down to Champagny, it was almost deserted on the pistes and on the lifts.

No, I have been to La Plagne in late January and stick to my comment quoted above. It can get busy at going home time at "choke points".

Personal opinion I guess. I found a 10 min wait a bit frustrating but nothing that overly bothered me or what I would call “bad”. Any longer though and I would start to call that bad. And as I mentioned, it was only at this bottleneck at peak going home time. The rest of the lifts throughout the week were a breeze.
We probably got caught in it twice in the week. A bit of careful planning avoided it easily enough.
