Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Looking for St Anton (Austria) information and friends! :)

Hey folks

I've only been lurking on these boards for two days and I've learned a lot of valuable information...so thanks for that. Anyway, I realized I needed to sign up because I'm an exchange student from Canada currently in England...and I have a million questions about 'snow travel' over here in Europe.
I kind of have my eyes set on St Anton, as it looks quite amazing, but I'm really open to suggestions. I need to travel on a budget though because the Canadian dollar doesn't have sh@t on the Euro or pound Smile I found I could fly into Friedrichshafen for next to nothing but I'm a little confused with how to get to St Anton from there. I read a post about this not to long ago, but does anyone know how much the train is (there and back) and whether I could just show up and buy it when I get there?
Also..second part of my post is for anyone that's looking for something to do. I'll just be making this trip on my own, so if anyone is interested I'm planning for April 3 - 4 to April 6 - 8 ...right in Easter, I know..but it's the only time I could do it. Or alternatively, if you have a low budget trip planned out and are looking for a random to tag along, let me know! Smile

Thanks for the help!

Hey Blake

Just got back from St Anton - your right about it being amazing!!!

You really don't need to panic about traveling - once you land - head to the train station opposite the airport (1 min walk) and grab a train direct to Freidreschafen town station (about 2 stops)

From here there is a direct train all the way to St Anton (about 25 Euros) - you may want to check the times however, cause i think there is only 1 a day that goes direct - worst situation you may have to change a few times, but the train staff are really helpfull and they will make sure you make the right changes. The trains are really comfy and we had a carrage full of hot chicks too!...Bonus

Once in St Anton, there are loads of places to stay ranging from 25 - 60 Euros per night (bed and breakfast) - there are a few villages along the valley that will also have accomodation if you can't find anything in St Anton - There are free ski buses to all of these places (except at night)

The only downside to staying out of St Anton is the taxi's are a rip off and there are no night buses after around midnight (correct me if im wrong people)

It may be worth contacting the local interenet cafe in St Anton (Mailbox) as there were loads of notices on the board for rooms etc.

Any other questions just bump back while its still fresh in my head!!!

Hi to everyone still out there (you lucky g*ts)

There is a privatly operated nightbus that runs to Gand,St Jakob etc it used to cost 2-3 euros (not sure now) but I know it runs I sore it parked by Cafe Stanton evernight.

As for Taxis. You must insist they switch on the meter , many people dont do this and say "how much to blah blah blah" The taxi drive then gives some outrageous price. Its fixed amoungst all the taxis so it doesnt look unusual.

INSIST they switch the meter on (Its the law) & your find a jouney that cost 10 Euros now cost you 2-3Euros Very Happy
