Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Arlberg off-piste:15 yo with awesome Whiteguides

Whiteguides take 15 yo from the States on some incredible off-piste: Monzabon Zurs Ruffikopf to the Flexenbahn cable car, off-piste all the way, Schindlergrat Rinne - the big couloir, Wartherhorn blizzard powder, and Valluga West (detailed clip below overall TR - where one can see the mental tension, and it was an avalanche risk level 3.3+ day, and his strain, exhaustion in race boots ! is palpably visible in the Valluga West detailed film). Just 3 other skiers seen that day, and there are no tracks really other than these two and the other three.

Also, snippets of Stierloch, below Juppenspitze Lech to Warth ... 15 yo is an expert racer, but is relatively new to this sort of heavy powder. He filmed most of this with a chest-mounted GoPro, Whiteguides are in Blue, 15 yo is in red
The overall Trip : (last 3 minutes are family and friends pics...)

The guides from Whiteguides were incredible people, got along famously with the 15 yo, and safely guided while teaching him how to handle off-piste terrain and especially avalanche risk terrain.

The Valluga West - a non-pro expert 15 yo skis it on a beautiful bluebird day after a total blizzard day with gale-force winds which caused lift closures, and this was skiing off-piste from Zurs, grabbing the Flexenbahn, and then doing the Schindlergrat Rinne, kid was already warmed up, but the exposure on the Valluga is fierce...take a look, it's one hell of a ride, and you can see it as he gets his groove back after the initial couloir drop in..

Apologies for the double post to all, new to forum, and had a time with the 'buttons' and server delays stateside. Therefore deleted duplicate post once server allowed the same. Thanks

Indeed we did, a trip for the ages! Wunderbar !-) Very Happy Cool

For the 15 year old, his off-piste adventures started in Aspen Highlands in 2014 (was 11 yo then) with Highland Bowl, the legendary (stateside) hike/climb up (climb 1500+ feet, 500+meters) on boots and in the early part, a very hairy ridgeline in boots and skis on one's back, and then steep rock-hardback down (old man had a tough fall, survived it!).

Continued into Tignes-Val d'Isere in 2015 (12 yo then), which was first real introduction to avalanche terrain, and always being beacon-ed up, and with avy bag, and doing some incredible terrain.

Finally, Snowbird inbounds but off-piste, Peruvian side, Cirque side, Mineral Basin etc. at the end of '15. That was it, till now, and what a trip to the Arlberg. And got some incredible conditions from whiteout day 1, to gale-blizzards day 2, and then snow and bluebird throughout thereafter Easter and following week. This was the real deal, and we have the guides from Whiteguides to thank for shepherding him safely, and pushing him to reach deep and tackle the terrain.

Just such a high, dad still floating on the endorphins, you know teens, they've moved on !
