Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Resort near Geneva - Sensible hotel price for 40 people

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We are planning a large group ski holiday next year. Several families with different aged kids (4-14). We would prefer to stay in a resort easily accessed from Geneva (1-2hr transfer)- PDS, Grand Massif, Mont Blanc and Chamonix Valley, 3 valleys etc.

Any recommendations for smallish size hotels at sensible prices would be appreciated. We would prefer not to get a bus to the slopes for somewhere too far outside the town/village. Happy to walk 10 mins or so.

Hope this is not too much like 'the moon on a stick'.

Looking for-

Smallish Hotel - not hundreds of rooms
    Half board option
    Walk to lifts
Pool would be good but not essential

Please help!!!

@Mike-H, try search on Sapiniere, Chamonix? Used to be Ski Esprit but think moved on to someone like Nielson, Total, Inghams?? Possibly Crystal but think less likely.
Not luxurious by a long way but character, decent position, probably good value price. snowHead

Ran by Inghams (same group as Esprit). Looking to book hotel only and not a package. Price per person £1300! Way over budget on our dates.

The milk hotel les carroz is on slopes and a short ski to the gondola

or

A residence, such as chalet de jouvance , CGH place with pool on the slopes and short moving carpet to gondola and go to restaurants if you want? They can deliver breakfast as well, just order it from reception.

In Chamonix - La Croix Blanche
https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/la-croix-blanche-chamonix.en-gb.html

It's in the centre (so very convenient for non-skiers), and a very short walk to ski bus stops and the centre beginner slopes (which can be used to access Brevent without buses).
Not massive (medium sized, private/local feel), but a good number of rooms, with different sizes/configurations, and all rooms are pretty spacious. A little old/traditional in styling, butgood value for money.
They have a restaurant on site, doing breakfast and dinner if required, and I'd think you could negotiate a deal for a group your size.
Also multiple rec/'living' rooms, including a piano! No pool though.

I stayed there a few weeks ago with a group for a long weekend and we were all very impressed with both the value for money, and also the service - which is rare for France!
I've not stayed in many other hotels in Chamonix so there may well be other good options, but I can't personally advise on them (the other two I've stayed in are either too big, or too pricey I think for you).

I'll walk past it in the next couple of days, and will see if I can grab a non booking.com contact number.

How about the Hotel de la Poste in La Tzoumaz, in the Swiss 4 Vallées? This is a satellite resort of Verbier, so not crazy prices. It has a popular Italian/Pizzeria restaurant on the ground floor, and within 5 mins walk of the télécabine. See http://www.post-hotel.ch/. It's not a 4-star type place, so may be in line with what you're looking for, and I'd say at least worth checking the tariffs to see of they're reasonable. As mentioned, a block-booking should get you a discount. The resort website is at http://www.latzoumaz.ch/en/index.htm?respp=9&cat_id=13&val_33=200785&hide_data=33;200785&tri=1026&Tri=1026

There's a pool in the télécabine building nearby, which usually opens-up after 16:00. There's a big thermal resort and 'wellness' centre in the valley which might be a nice day's outing if the weather is bad https://www.bainsdesaillon.ch/en/. If your group was smaller, I'd even suggest you could stay at the Bains and do day excursions to multiple resorts, or stay put if the weather is bad or some people just don't fancy skiing, but obviously people would need transport.
